SPORT AT PLIMMERTON

BOWLING, CROQUET, TENNIS NEW CLUB FORMED. The final meeting of residents of Plimmerton for the purpose of forming ; the newly-constituted Plimmerton : Bowling, Croquet, and Tennis Club was held in Taupo Hall on Thursday evening, ■ and waa well attended by enthusiastic supporters. The Rev. J. B. Stent presided, and outlined the progress of the initial stages leading ;up. to the formation, of the club. Rules were adopted and officers elected as follow:—President, Rev. J. B. Stent; Mr J. Wright; treasurer, Mr G. Neale: auditor, Mr Bennell; hon. secretary, Mr E. Batten; committee, Messrs Amon, J. Walter, J. Grey, A. H. Mildenhall, G. Martin, and W. Martin. The purchase of six sections previously 'secured from the Walker Estate ..was confirmed, and debentures of £5 each are being issued, £1 on application and-the balance in three, six, nine and 12 mfra'ths. . .Hearty thanks were accorded the chairman and Messrs Neale and \yris?ht for the preliminary work done in bringing the dub into existence. • Expert' advice is'.to he called in for the purpose 'of laying out /the various grbens required, and an endeavour is tp be .made.to have the greens open for tho forthcoming season. This provision should be a great asset" to this popular seaside resort.'
