(From Our Own Correspondent.) MASTERTON, May 27. The Mastcftj-i Boiough Council has granted rhe Beautifying Society permission io heautil'y about 2i acres of land adjoining the Maeterton West School. Mrs Dryden, a resident of Wellington, who was injured in a motor accident ori the Bowen road in the Alfredton district, about two weeks ago, died in a private hospital yesterday. Deceased svaa 05 years ot age, and was travelling from Napier to Wellington with Mr lan Sutherland, of Wellington, and when the wheels of tlio car, iu drawing off the road to let another vehicle pass, dropped into a watertable, Mrs Dryden was thrown out and severely injured. Mr O. N. C. Pragnell and Mr 1/. B Maunsell have been elected members of the council of the Masterton Chamber of Commerce, vice Messrs It. Either and J. C. Cooper, who resigned on account of pressure of business The Masterton Oddfellows’ Lodge lias elected the folowing officers for the ensuing term-. —P.G., Bro. R. Carter, 1.1'.N.G. : 'Bro. S. Tha Masterton Chamber of Commerce has decided to urge the Borough Council to bring in a “Keep to the Left” by-law as regards footpath traffic.
