WAIRARAPA FOOTBALL ALTERATION TO RULES.

(Special to “Times.”) MASTERTON. April 17

Mr H. J. McKenzie, secretary of the Wairarapa Referees’ A.s’snnntion, informs your correspondent that the following alterations of the rules have taken place, and will come into forre at once: —Free kicks: In all free kicks Che kicker and placer may be the same player, and. the opposing eide cannot .jump in the air or try and stop the ball in any way. Knock-on : If a player knocks on the ball he must recover it immediately before it reaches the ground. At the annual meeting of the New Zealand R.R.A. at Wanganui Mr J. 0. Pinhey, of the Red Star Club, Master* ton, was'elected a vice-president, Mr H. J. McKenzie gave notice that he would move at the next conference tha\ the annual meeting of the New Zealand Referees’ Association in 1927 held in the Wairarapa. The Wairarapa- Rugby Union has.appointed Messrs J. McKenzie, F. B. Duffy, and J. Nyhan junior selectors. Mr W. G. Lamb has been elected chairman of the Wairarapa Rugby Union for the ensuing year. , The senior, junior, and third grade matches will commence on Saturday, May 2nd, and the other grades a week later.

The Wairarapa Rugby Union has decided that Gladstone, Red Star, Masterton, Tariem, Carterton, and Opaki be the north junior division, and Dalefield, Greytown. Featherstnn, Martinborough, Dry River, and Tuhirangi the southern division.

The annual meeting of the Te Horo Football Club was held in the Public Hall. Mr R* Windlev occupied the chair. There was a good attendance of players and others, and all seemed very keen for the game to be carried on again this season. The balance-sheet was read, and showed a good credit balance from last year. It was proposed by Mr C. Beauchamp and seconded by Air W. Gawler that there be a third grade team this year.—Carried.
