TE AROHA "MYSTERY"
SEARCH UNAVAILING. THE POLICE THEORY. TE AROHA, March 24. Latest particulars regarding Mr A»cher, supposed to havo been lost on Te Aroha Mountain, are that a search party with Constable Mofison in charge failed to find traces that he arrived at the top of ihe mountain. The party found footprints on the track leading to Waiorongomai. This track is only defined) for rboit a chain and is then lest in the bush. Among Ascher’s belongings at the hotel was found an envelope addressed “Ascher, c/o Steamship Aorangi.” This may assist in tracing his friends. He is not known locally. Asoher’s description is—Pale complexion, black hair, brown eyes, Jewish appearance, about sft 6m in height,, age about- 20 years. Another search party has left. : SEARCH DISCONTINUED. Later. The police, interviewed regarding! Ascher, expressed doubts about the case. It appears that a- man of similar name and description was “lost” at Palmerston North, 1922, being afterwards located by tho police. Consequent upon this information, the search has been discontinued.
