BORSTAL INSTITUTE

TO BE ESTABLISHED AT WAIKARE. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND. March 21. The Hon. Sir James Parr, Minister for Justice, states that it has been decided to establish a Borstal Institute for the North Island at Waikare, on the site of the prison camp, which it is proposed to move to near Tokaanu. At Waikare there is a fine building, and thousands of acres of land) to bring into cultivation. The prisoners now at Waikare will be removed, and 1 “reformatives” will also be transferred. The Borstal Institution at Waikare will accommodate from 80 to 100.
