ROADSIDE SIGNS
(To the Editor "N.Z. Times.”) Sir, —Your correspondent "Vox Pop” ihas put the matter of wayside signs m a convincing and subtly amusing manner. I approve of bis suggestion that objectors to that mode of publicity should stop buying articles so advertised, and althoughl advertise for business, m a authough I advertise for business, I now nominate myself as a member of Hie "Suppression of Koadside Cigns League. The vision of "statuary of our noblest citizens” lining the way from Kaiwarra to Petone is a scream, and should give a boost to local politics. It is alleged that every American boy carries in Lis hip-pocket a President’s baton, although at times it feels like a flask. Every Wellington boy should be taught that by riving (not* say ing) "Service before Self” he is qualifying lor a place in. the sun, to wit—the marble ranks of the Hutt road immortals. Anticipation of an animated bust has a compelling charm. All those in favour of downing road-signs ■will join up with the league without delay. "DOWN WITH THE PHILISTINES.”
