There is a good general demand at the lower level. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, have received the "following cablegram from their London houe, under date 20th intant: “Wool sale.—As compared with last sales closing rates, prices are lower about 10 per cent, to 15 per cent, for scoured crossbred, scoured merino super, merino lambs, fine and medium greasy crossbred l and crossbred slipe; lower about 10 per* cent, for crossbred lambs and greasy! merino super and coarse greasy cross^j bred; lower about 15 per cent, for me- ! dium merino and lower about 15 per} cent, to 20 per cent for inferior merino. BUTTER AND CHEESE

AUSTRALIAN EXPORTS. Advice has been received by the Dairy Division that in Australia ‘there was graded during February 335.258 boxes butter, 11,G23 crates cheese; and that the shipments from Australia to the United Kingdom during February were 271,011 boxes butter, and 8584 crates cheese. They are also in receipt of advice, which arrived per cable from tho Argentine Dairy Association, reading as follows: The shipments during the month of February were 2500 tons of butter, 3 lons of cheese, and 1450 tons of casein. TALLOW. - Messrs W. Weddel and Co., Ltd., London, cable under date, 18th instant, as follows: —Tallow market unchanged,; 890 casks were offered, and 240 casks sold.

WHEAT’S RECOVERY CHECKED

Wheat cargoes are quiet, with prices lower owing to heavy Australian shipments, accentuated by the break in the initial American and A argentin e* options. The “Grain Reporter" (London) says that the fall in the last fortnight of between 2? and 37 cents., is the most remarkable for many, years. ‘ Sellers’ rates are 2s 6d to 4s 6d down on the week.
