NEW ZEALAND ALL OUT FOR 226 ALLOO AND BLUNT DISPLAY CSOD FIRM VICTORIANS SHOW KEENNESS IN FIELD AGREEMENT TO CSVER THE WICKET The first test match between New Zealand and Victoria commenced at the Basin Reserve, yesterday, in fine but cold weather. The wicket was in splendid condition. W. R. Patrick won the toss, and after a delay owing to a misunderstanding between the captains over the covering of the wickets Huddleston and Worker took strike for the Dominion. 1 , The New Zealand batsmen occuoied the rtease nearly . the whole of the day, and scored 226 runs. Alloo (Otago) was top scorer with 51 not out, while Blunt (Canterbury) made 30, Worker (Otago) 34, and Hiddleston (Wellington) 22. . The Victorian bowlers, Wallacp, Liddicutt, and HartkoDf, made runs hard to get, and they'were backed\Up by' a keen field. .The Victorians had no wickets down for 5 runs when stumps were drawn.
