' 1 1 * ;= i A farewell to Mrs J. L. Campbell and Mrs H. J. L. Goldthorpe, who leave for England shortly, was given by Mrs G. D. MacGregor at the Eltnam Croquet Club’s lawns, when playing membei's spent a most enjoyable afternoon. The president (Mrs H. G. Carman), on behalf of the club, expressed the regret of members at their departure. A most successful hall was held) at Shannon on Si. Patriot's night. Music was supplied by an orchestra, extras being played by Mrs Butler, Mr B. Spencer and.Mr Parr (Tokomaru), while the duties of M.C. were admirably carried out by Messrs J. T. Bovis and W. Quarrie. The ball was one of the best organised affairs of ite kind ever held in Shannon and the committee responsible for making and carrying out the ar Tangements are to be highly congratulated. The floor was in excellent condition, and dancing was kept up unt’l 2 a.m. The committee consisted of Mesdames Butler. W. Movnihau, T. Moyni- ' han, J. Henneesy, Miss Curran, Mr M. Curran (secretary), and Mr Fitzgerald (treasurer).
