GIRL STABS MAN
i Agirl of 18, Irene George, charged, with stabbing a man witha German' bayonet, wasremanded at Manchester.! It was stated that the injured man,! Ernest Taylor, waa.so seriously ill that ,his depositions had heen taken. v When charged the girl, who is the daughter of t a beerhouse keeper, said: “Yes, I did it.' I was behind the counter with my father when Taylor came in add asked for‘a drink. My father refused' him. Taylor then started to : row, and said : “I will do the pair of jroa in;” '■l' was afraid'he would strike my father, and I went into the kitchen, got the dagger, and struck him in the back. He fell to the ground with the dagaer im his back.” The dagger was stated to be a German bayonet, a souvenir of the war.
