Sunart, 9.1 (.J. Barry). Limelight, 8.8 (G. Young). Surveyor, 8.8 (J» O’Shea). Muraahi, 8.6 (H. Gray). Musketoon, 8.5 (R. Reed). ; Deucalion, 7.12 (J. Beale). Bonetter, 7.11 (L. A. Pine). THE WELLINGTON STAKES WEIGHTS OF THE COMPETITORS. One of the most interesting, events ,on to-morrow’s programme is the Wellington Stakes, a £IOOO face, over five fuilongp, for ttvo-year-olds^ and three-year-olds. ’ The competitors are to carry weight-for-age imposts, with. penalties. . Eight now remain in the mce and their Weights are as fdiiow : Gaillard 8.6. Motley 8.3. Runnymede 7.12. , / Lady Cavendish 7.9. Cvrene' 7.8. 1 Shirley 7. Grand National 6.12. • Oreum 6.9. ELDERSLIE AND BURNSIDE STUDS ' DISPERSAL SALE. The Elderslie and Burnside studs were disposed of to-day, when fifty-nine lota were offered at auction, twenty-seven being from Eldeyslie, thirty representing Burnside, -and two being offered at the last minute on account of the estate of the late Mr R. C. Gillies (says the Christchurch' “Press”). The 'attendance was good, hut not as big as it might have been, for of the fifteen. sportsmen who were hooked to arrive from Australia only two were present, Mr K. Austin, representing Messrs H:' Chisholm and Cp., Sydney, and Mr G. Raymond, also from New South Wales. N Mr Austin/did the selling, and as. he and Mr Raymond were both/ representing Australian buyers they made the bidding merry when they wanted anything. New Zealand breeders and racing people were:: represented ’ from Auckland, Hawke’s Bay, and Wanganui to Otago, and Messrs Riddiford Bros, from Wellington”, A. McDonald (Wairarapa), J. Donald (Wanganui), I. G. Duncan (Waikanae), W. Deans (Sandown stud), H. Reeves (Hororata -stud), R. Greenslade (Dunedin),, G. Gould (Christchurch)R. GreenSTade (Dunedin): and G. Kain (Mataufa) were keen buyers when anything appealed to fhem. Brood mares were not in great demand, and a number of them, were) not hid for, while others were passed in,' .probably not being wanted in most cases on ' account of their age. Yearlings sold well, and ‘no complaints can he made regarding the prices realised for the stallions, although many consider that -Solferino should have brought more than the '675 guineas Mr G. Kain paid for him, , hut tt must .be remembered that although he is easily the champion sire of the season, he was foaled in 1905, English time. EJtill, he looks , a young horse, and at the price is a great bargain/ The six-year-old Archery, who was called Charley Chanlin in England, and who 'was bought for £9400 as a .yearling, looked grand when stepped into the ring, but it, was not' sd much his appearance that made the competition to possess -him keen, as the foals he had on hand.' They were a beautiful 1 -lot, and his progeny’ from Michaela, Warlove; Stardancer, and Equitas; though : not for sale, were greatly admired: The first' hid, fori the Tracery horse was 1000 guineas; he quickly made 2000 guineas, -and then the bidding l settled down to a duel be- ■ tween the representatives of Mr' J. D. >Ormond'(Hawke’s Bay) and ;Mr- J.' J. Leahy (New South Wales), and. the New South Welshman finally got'the hay horse for 4600 guineas. Messrs Riddiford Bros, were always picking up something here,- and. there; and they forced Mr A. Donald; who had started 'the yearling brother to' Rosed ay off at’soo guineas, to. go to. 1105 guineas to get his fancy, which was - the largest 1 price paid for a yearling at both sales, and l the colt certainly looked worth the money. On the whole, the sale was a good one, for while: there was very little demand for brood mares, moat of them were old. The stallions brought good-prices; and theje was keen bidding for good-looking yearlings .of either sex. The nineteen lots: thatii were -sold on behalf of the Burnside stud brought 5250 guineas; and, the, twenty-four lots sold for-'the. Elderslie stud 10,015, guineas. The following are details of the sales:'— ELDERSLIE STUD. ■- " ■ Gns. Lot I—Ch m Ambrosian. (14), 1906, St. Ambrose—Neva, served by Archery—Mr W.
