LICENSE FEES RESENTED. '»■■■. * , v “TAXED OFF ROAD.” ' _ The Wellington Oity solicitor has advised .the Petone Borough Council that the Town Cleric would arrange a meeting of tl(e committee of all local authorities concerned to approve of ths “Wellington City Heavy Traffic Bylaw. 1924.” The mayor stated that at a. meeting he had attended that morning a scale of charges' had been drawn - up, although they were not settled. £35 FOR LORRIES. A proposal was made charging mo. tor-omnibuses of three tods £35 per annum, and £lO for every other halfton: but the maximum foe not exceeding £75 per annum. '■ “OUT OfF PROPORTION.” Councillor Jacobson considered tht proposed charges quite out of proportion, and thought that the ’buses should not be taxed off the road. Councillor Jay moved that a protest be sent .to the committee ‘at the proposed charge for ’buses. SAME yj^yi. The fee should be the same as for commercial vehicles, as both served • public need, he said. The mayor seconded the motion, and it was carried.
