HUTT ROAD BOARD. (T<s the Editor "N,Z, Times.") - Siri—A paragraph has appeared in the daily Fress stating that Mr C. M. Banks ■liad been appointed by member® of the Wellington Automobile Association. This is somewhat misleading. In the first place there is no such- association, • the only* of-private /motorists in Wellington being tne Wellington Automobile Club-i (incorporated), which v has a very largefmembership. j:Afc an meeting .of the Wellington Automobile Club held on ,December'4th, 1924, Mr S. George Nathan was nominated as motorists' representative of k the Wellington Automobile Club on the Hutt Roacl Board, which nomination .was subsequently confirmed at a special general meeting of members held on Decern*ber 22nd, called by supporters of Mr. C, ’ M; Banks, the action of the committee in nominating Mr S, George Nathan being endorsed. It is apparent that the members of the clu'b present at this latter meeting were satisfied in confirming the action of the executive in nominating Mr Nathan. This explanation will ‘ possibly ■ make the matter more plain to the payers of; the'Hutt road tax. - , Mr S. George. Nathan's nomination ‘has been placed in the hands of the town clerk to-day. - • , t ' For; the-Committee, i ' * . ■H. J. STOTT, < Secretary. January 15th, 1924. , WOMEN ATHLETES. (To the Editor "N.Z. Times”) Sir, —In your report regarding women athletes tho chairman of the .Wellington Centre is : credited with having said:— "Only one centre has definitely poposed ',the proposal: . /' . If. Mr Kilto has been correctly reported made by him ,is confact, and J would therefore .be obliged if, precaution against possible developments in the future, you* would publish the facts as they when the decision , of the council’was rarrived at. When centres in first instance were desirous of having anv event for ladies included on championship prcgiHimme. • they were without'i£he benefit of medical opinion, but after the considered opinion of the British Medical Association . was. available to centres the position; was ; follows: —Aucklandi and West Coast (N. 1.) Centres gave the proposal & direct negative. Otago Centre telegraphed that previous support to proposal would'be probably withdrawn at next meeting; of centre. Canterbuiry Centre had not responded to communications, thus leaving/- the Wellington Centre as the only direct, supporters of a ladies' championship event. ■ F VICTOR HUGO, Hon. Secretary N.Z.A.A.A.
