Present indications (4 p.m. yesterday) are for variable winds, but strong southerlies prevailing everywhere soon. Weather thick and misty, with rain general, ly, and heavy rain and rivers rising in many parts southward of New Plymouth and Castepoint; atmospheric pressure increasing soon and conditions becoming oolder, bat improving about Wednesday. Disturbances have been centred to-day both eastward and westward of the South Island.
