SENSATION IN LENINGRAD. WIPE INCITES THE HOB. Reuter’s Telegram. LONDON. December 25. The Riga correspondent of the “Daily Express” tells a sensational story of Zinovieff (a leader of the Communist Internationale) being thrashed by unemployed in Leningrad. Zinovieff’s wife, owing to jealousy, told the unemployed that they would find her husband and two Soviet leaders “having a good time” in a notorious house. The mob raided the house, smashed the windows and furniture, and thrashed Zinovieff, who was carried home unconscious. The ringleaders were arrested, hut were soon released as the result of orders from Moscow. The incident is considered as a sidelight in the struggle between the Trotsky Moderates and the Zinovieff Diehards, who recently made a concession; permitting private trading to be reBumed.
