Maunganui, closing, at Wellington Tuesday, January'6th, at 2 p.m.; mail due London about February'3rd. NEW YEAR HOLIDAYS. On WEDNESDAY, December 31st, a morning and an afternoon delivery will be made by postmen. In addition letters (registered as well as ordinary) usually delivered by postmen in the city and suburbs will be delivered on application at the Postmen’s Branch (entrance upstairs from Feather*ton street at the Chief Post Office) from 8 to 9 p.m. Correspondence addressed to the General Post Office may be obtained upon ' application, until 8 p.m. The posting boxes in the city and suburbs will be cleared as usual at midnight on Wednesday, December 31st, and Thursday, January Ist. On THURSDAY, January Ist (NeV Year’s Day), the Post Office will he closed in all branches. Mails for dispatch by trains for Wairarapa, Hawke’s Bay, Manawatu, Rangitikel, Wanganui, and Taranaki fTistricts will close at 6 a.m., and for Auckland and district, or for dispatch by steamers, at 8 a.m. on Thursday, January Ist.
