T. W. H. CROSLAND—AUTHOR.
Australian and N.Z. Cable Association (Received December 24, 9 p.m.) LONDON, December 24. The “Daily Express” reports that Mr T. W. H. Crosland, the author, died in poverty in a London tenement, after a long illness, of consumption. His best-known books are: “The Unspeakable Scot,” “The Lord of Creation,” “The Wild Irishman,” and “Taffy was a Welshman.” - In 1905 he was editor of “The English Review,” and from 1908 to 1911 assistant editor of “Tho Academy.” C. The death is announced of Charles Gladstone Allen, cno of the famous Allen twins, prominent at one time in international lawn tennis. C. G. Allen, twin brother of Edward Roy Allen, represented Cambridge with his brother against Oxford in 1889-91, and in doubles with his brother achieved a remarkable number of tournament successes. He reached the all-comers’ final in 1896. He was 56 years of age at the time of his death.
