MEN’S CLAIMS TO BE HEARD.
MINIMUM WAGE DEMANDED: By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. SYDNEY, Deoember 24. The president of the Miners’ Federation has been informed that the Coal Tribunal will be summoned during the second week in January to deal with claims . made by the federation some months ago for a minimum weekly wage of £5 10s, and a uniform sevenhour day throughout the industry. When the claims were last before the tribunal the chairman, Mr Hibble, said he would not commoiico_the hearing until all. the pits then idle had resumed work and until his award in reference to the Lithgow coke works and the cutting machines at Pelaiwmain had heen observed. Only the first of these conditions has been fulfilled’.
It is expected that the hearing will last for several weeks.
