Morant Bayly, who was for many years manager of tho National Bank of New Zealand at Stratford, and is now secretary of the Gisborne Farmers’ Association, has been appointed, in addition, out of sixteen applicants, to the position of secretary of the Poverty Bay Shecpowners’ Union of Employers. i Wilson, manager of the Auckland Sunday School Union, has accepted the position of manager of the bookroom of the Presbyterian Church, which is to be established in connection with the Yonth Department in Christchurch. Mr Wilson has been for fourteen years’with the Auckland Union, and before that was connected with the Bible and Book Depot m Dunedin. Mr C. E. Fraser, who has been a memhereof the staff of the Citv Corporation during the past 30 years, latterly as chief overseer in the drainage department, has now retired on superannuation, and ‘was met by many of his friends connected with the Master Plumbers’ Association, who wished to express to him their good wishes for his future health and happiness. Mr G. W. Key, president of tho association, referred to the groat regret of those present at Mr Fraser's retirement; he was an officer who had not during his long service mado a single enemv. but, on the contrary, had made many friends by the fairness with which ho had earned out his duties as chief <frainage overseer. On behalf of those present, Mr W. Judd presented Mr Fraser with a gold albert and Mrs Fraser with some silver plate as a small token of the esteem in which Mt Fraser is held. Several members of the association soofcri and also Mr Douglas, or-Mavor of Dunedin, Mr H. W. Johnson (chairman of tho Plumbers Board), and Mr Clark (a member of the Auckland Board). Mr Fraser suitably replied.
