The chief comedian was Mr Albert Ttylor, who surprised the electors by his eleventh-hour appearance as an Independent candidate against the Conservative. Mr A. Harland. He had a deep-rooted dislike to the Bolshevik loan because he had pet proposals of his own for spending £lO,COO.OOO. Otherwise he was prepared to subscribe to the Socialist creed. His meetings were packed by people in search of free entertainment. He came out on the platform with his wife, five daughters, and a son, says the ‘‘Daily Mail’s” correspondent, j When the chairman stood up to speak,|Mr Taylor gently but firmly reseated | him and opened the meeting by intro. | ducing himself and his family-. This is how Mr Taylor addressed his audiences:— “I will let you people into a secret. Hush, you must not breathe a word, j I will tell you I can cure all the unemployment there is.
