THE ROSEDAY APPEAL

DISMISSED BY JUDGES. "WELFUD PREVENTION ” Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, December '£>. Sir George Clifford; Mr John Grigjj, and Mr G. N. McLean. Racing Conference judges, delivered judgment to-dav in the matter of the appeal by J. Richardson, owner of the horse Rosedav, against the decision of the Dunedin district Com : mitteo in approving of the decision of the judicial committee of the Gore Racing Club in .disqualifying the said U.‘ Richardson, the horse Roseday, the D. . P.' Wilson, junr., and the jockey, A. H. Wilson, for a period of two’ve months, from October 28th, 1024. Tho judges said they wovfd lie reluctant to confirm any, disqualification bosed on apparently inconsistent runni™ unless where some strong confirmation; of an improper motive is forthcoming. In the case under appeal the evidence of the. stewards "of the Gove Racing Club and of the stipendiary stewards and responsible official eve-witnesses of the races is in agreement as to- the wi’ful prevention of Roseday from doing himself justice in. the Gore Cun. Confirmation of their opinion is derived from his clearing a way in that race for Kerb, his stable companion* *nd from the different style of riding adopted on him on the second day. We cannot d'sassocintc the owner of Roseday from the tactics pursued in' the running nf the horsesi from Wilson's stable on this occasion, and we, therefore dismiss his »ppeal, aud declare hf«i deposit forfeited." D. P. Wilpon, jnnr.. and A. It. Wilson withdrew their anneals.
