POLITICIANS’ SELF-HELP

N.S.W. LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL REJECTS THE PROPOSAL. - LOWER HOUSE ANGRY. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright 1 (Received December 19, 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, December 19. The two Houses of the State Parliament got to loggerheads over a, clause in the Railways Bill which provided that members who had served in three complete parliaments should receive gold passes entitling them to free transit on the railways for the rest of their lives. The Cabinet was not unanimous on the question, but members of the Assembly naturally favoured the proposal, and sent the bill along to the Legislative Council. The councillors opposed the clause, and, promptly sent the bill back, with the clause deleted. The Assembly indignantly restored the clause, and hurled the bill back on the Council, which decided to insist on the deletion. The Assembly, thou-ab still indignant, swallowed the snuff, and accepted the deletion., bird both Houses »,o journed te* fhris+Tn
