Owing to, difficulty in filling the vacancies the 'departure of the steamer had to he postponed. The trouble is a continuation of the dispute which delayed the vessel at Sydney. - The secretory of the • local branch of the Seamen’s Union sent a letter to* the manager of the shipping company, stating that the men who had left the Vessel were dissatisfied at the . non-payment of claims made by them. If the claims, were met unconditionally, the menjprere quite prepared to return' to the ssqp; He added that men will not fill the vacancies owing to the above dispute. He considers that the - matter should be amicably settled at a ■ conference.
