The Royal Commission’s report' finds Cropley’s charges sustained, andpasses qevere comment on Alderman Walker. With regard to otk»r allegations, it points out that there is clear ground for - the. Government proceeding with investigations, hut it makes no recommendations as to what notion the Government should take in regard to the chargee proved'. , It points out there are strong grounds for further investigations.
W. F. Cropley, the lessee of a City Council property, alleged that overtures were made to him to pay £IOOO to certain aldermen, in order that a larger amount of compensation for the surrender of the lease might be forthcoming. During the inquiry other charges o' a similar nature were made against aldermen
