(By the Government Meteorologist) Present indications (4 ji.m. yesterday) are for strong westerly to southerly winds northward of New Plymouth and Caatlepoint* and south-easterlies, strong to gale, elsewhere. Weather cold and unsettled, with rain generally, and heavy rain with rivers rising about Cook Strait and in the north-east district of the South Island. Barometer rising in the north and elsewhere soon.
