PIPE-MAKING FACTORY. SUBURBAN GRIEVANCES.. Complaints , are being made ,by Lower Hutt residents at the placing of the. factory at BelmontJEor making the spiral ■leek bar steel pipes, for the OrongorongoKarori main. l The noise ip, a. residential area is objected to, and a petition’ is -now' being- circulated among residents of the Hutt for presentation to the local Borough Council, pointing otit that no industrial area has , been proclaimed within the borough anti objecting to the ’alleged nuisances caused by the operation of the -factory,-not' alone by the noise but also by the heavy smoke, and fumes given .out from the tan.ks in which is prepared a composition with which the pipes are coated. . ‘
Residents, moreover, are exercising their minds somewhat, as to what will be the. effect upon the locality if . the company should decide, in order to" make up xftany weeks of leeway, to work double or treble shifteptuight and day..
