A letter received by the Wellington Competitions Society from Lord Jellieoo while Governor-General was read fit the annual meeting of the society ast evening in response to a letter tent to His Excellency by, Mr J. W Osrr, vice-president, expressing appreciation of the patronage of Lord Jellicoe and his family, and regret at their departure from the Dominion, at the same time wishing them great happiness and prosperity in the future. The president, Mr C. M. Bowden, read the reply from Lord Jellicoe as follow*: —“In reply to your very kind farewell message which yon send on behalf of your executive council to Her Excellency and myself, we wish fo say that our visits each year to the competitions have given us the greatest pleasure, as has the opportunity of being able to assist a society whoso educational work is so valuable to the community. We trust that its success will continue'in the future; and we offer our good wishes to all connected With it.” ' On the motion of Mr F. G.‘ Cray it Was resolved that the vice-president’s Setter and the Governor-General’s reply be framed and hung in the office of the society <s a permanent record.
