WHY FLOWERS SMELL
"• Do yoq know why* most flowers smell nice ? It is because the insects would pass them by unless they looked and smelt attractive, and that would mean that in the future we should have fewer and fewer, flowers. The insect in his flight is attracted by the pretty colours and sweet smell of the flowers. He, finds his way into the flowers and drinks of the sweet 'hondjp that he finds there. In his way: in and out of the flower he refbs his body against the pollen, and carries sojfce away with him. When lie goes to ; the 'ttdxt flower the same thing happens again, and so the polleh is carried from flower to flower; and on his flight scatters some, and in this Way the seeds which, when the flower dies, have fallen upon the are, ready to spring up as a new plant.
