POLITICAL FIELD
PREPARATIONS BY LABOUR. .... t> Nominations of candidates for the selection ballots in the five Wellington Parliamentary districts have been received by the Wellington Labour Representation Council as follow:—North, Mr H. E. Combs; South: Mr R. MeKcen, M.P.j Rost, Mr A. L. Montoith, M.P.; Central, Mr P. Fraser, M.P.; Suburbs, Messrs W, Bromley, T. Brindlo. C H. Chapman, and A. W.- .Croskery. Mr Combs stood for the North seat at the last general election, being defeated by Sir John Luke by a small majority. Mr Croskery, who has been nominated, with others, for Wellington Suburbs, contested the seat with Mr R. A. Wright at the last election, and ho was also defeated by a small majority in a straight-out fight. Labour is also-preparing very actively for tlio municipal elections, and it has been decided to pnt ''Candidates in the field for the Mayoralty, City Council, Harbour Board, and Hospital Board. The name of Mr C. 11. Chapman has been mentioned frequently in connection with the Mayoralty. Nominations of candidates for tho muhicipal election close on January 18th.
