PLUNKET SHIELD CONTEST
DISCOURTESY SUGGESTED. AUCKLAND RESENTS IMPUTATION. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, December 8. Strong resentment of the Wellington Cricket Association's reported suggestion of discourtesy on the part of the Auckland Association in its attitude in connection with this season's Plunket Shield figures, was expressed at a meeting of the management committee of the local association last evening. In the report of the Wellington meeting held on Monday it was stated that, subsequently to the secretary reporting that no reply to his telegram regarding fixtures had been received from Auckland, a delegate remarked that Auckland had! not been very courteous, while another said Auck land had ignored Wellington. . The chairman drew attention to the fact that neither the Auckland nor the Canterbury Association had met since the dispatch of the telegram. Auckland had Already settled with Canterbury and Otago as to the dates for matches against those provinces, and all arrangements in connection with the southern tour had been made. To agree to Wellington's e I eVe ,", tll ; hour suggestion that Auckland should (play Otago at Christmas and Canterbury at the Now Year would mean upsethng all those , arrangements. The Auckland team would have to leave two days earlier and play Otago immediately on arrival at Dunedin, after three days* travelling. . .decided that a reply be sent to Wellington to the effect that the date could not he altered, as all the arrangements had already been made.
