HOMING PIGEONS
The Wellington Homing Pigeon Society held its weekly race from Auckland, on the 22nd nlto., an air line of 315 miles. Nine lofts competed, representing 47 birds. Results:—G. Wilson’s B. 1920, 437, velocity 1096 yards per minute, 1; G. Geary’s 8.C.C., 1095, yards, 2; R. Hastie’s R.C.C.W., 281, 1091 yards, 3: J. Campbell’# 8.C.C.W., 248, 1093 yards, 4; J. H. Clark’s R.C.C. 149, 1091 yards, 5. This week’s race was flown from Oamaru, an air line distance of 329 miles. Five lofts competed, representing 15 birds. Results:—R. Hastie’s B.C— C.W., 1921, 240, velocity 886 yards per minute, 1; A. Lamb’s 8.C.H.W., 1920, 268, 885 yards, 2; E. Neweon’s 8.C.C.W., 1918, 97, 846 yards, 3: G. Wilson’s B.C.C.W. 1922, 31, 843 yards, 4; .1. H. Clark’s B.C.P.W. 191$, 110, 838 yards, 5. Next week’s race will be flown from Auckland. The New Zealand Grand National Championship will be flown from Te Arch a bn Wednesday next. Great interest is being taken in this race, as there will be 190 birds competing f»m various lofts all over New Zealand. .
