The usual fortnightly meeting of tig committee was held on Monday last, and was presided over by Mr F. Meadowcroft. The inspector reported that several cases of cruelty had been investigated since the previous meeting, and steps had been taken to secure better- treatment for the animals concerned. It had been necessary to take proceedings against two offenders, who wer, fined JES 10s 6d and JS2 8s respective^. It was decided to hold the annual meeting of the societv at 103. Customhouse quay, on Wednesday, October 29th, at 4 p in. Subscriptions and ' donations amounting to -til 4s lid were acknowledged, and that sum included £2 11s from' the Island Junior League, 10s 4d from the Unper Junior League, and £1 Ss Id from the. Dominion Laboratory staff.
