WELLINGTON SOCIETY. SHOW OPENS TO-DA.Y. Narcissi of all descriptions are de servedly becoming more popular every year. They'-are the most handsome of the hardy spring flowers, and the most 'improved. Parkinson described a hundred. species and varieties as far back as 1629. The earliest writers, from the time of Ancient Greece, have written of their- charm.. , -. ..■. The varieties to be shewn at the-Wei-* lington Show to-day (Friday), are the cream of tho many thousands of kinds in cultivation. Growers from Taranaki and the Manawatu will compete with the local and Hutt Valley growers, and a display worthy of the capital city is promised. Keen competition is promised among the suburban societies for the R. A. Wright trophy, also among aimc--tours for the Newman Cup. Hyacinths, i orchids, primroses, etc., will also be shown in the latest and best of their^Epi • The''sKow'will be opened by His Worship the Mayor, Mr R. A. Wright, at 3 o’clock on Friday.
