DRUG-RUNNERS SENTENCED
SPANIARDS GET GAOL AFTER LONG TRIAL.

(Received .'August 17, 5.5 p.m.) Miguel Maluqucr, the Spanish Con-' sol, i and ,Ray mon de Torrents, another fjaniard, whom the Canadian Mounted dice apprehended, after a year’s pursuit in Europe, were charged at Montreal ' with importing narcotics into Canada. Both were found guilty, end sentenced to six montbs'-Zgaol. The trial lasted oyer two months. Accused countered the charges by as serting that the arrest was llegal, because made by the invasion of traditionally inviolate premises—the Consulate. _ * ’ The. court disallowed the claim, but exercised clemency, imposing a short term of prison, whereas the maximum si seven years.
