UNUSUAL ARREST

CIVILIANS TAKE ACTION. An arrest, unusual in that it was effected, not by the police, but by civilians, was made in Thorndon on Saturday afternoon, when a man who had allegedly attempted an assault on a young woman, was taken into custody. Her cries, when attacked, attracted the attention of her mother, upon whose appearance, the intruder made off but was pursued and overtaken by two passers-by. He was handed over to Sergeant Sivyer, and will appear before the Magistrate to-day.
