DAYLIGHT SAVING

CHAMBER OF COMMERCE APPROVES. “MOST OF COMPETITION COMES FROM FARMERS.” SCHEME TO BE EXPLAINED. An invitation from the Sports Protection League to join a deputation to the Prime Minister for the purpose of advocating daylight saving was received by ithe Chamber of Commerce yesterday. Mr Leigh Hunt said that much of the opposition to the scheme came from the farmers, but hp felt sure that they did not understand the position. He thought that good would be done by waiting upon the next Farmers’ Conference and explaining the scheme and what it meant.

The chairman, Mr H. D. Bennett, said that the Associated Chambers of Commerce had already expressed their approval of the daylight-saving scheme, and it was resolved to reply to the Sports Protection League to. this effect.
