MOTORCAR PURCHASE. YOUNG MAN SIGNS BIS UNCLE’S NAME. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, July 7. At the Police Court a young man, Brio John Meroer, pleaded not guilty to a charge of forgery and uttering, and was committed for trial. The evidence showed that the recused /arranged to purchase, a motor car for £620. He ga/ve a cheque tot that amount and signed hia undo’s name. The manager of the motor company said iit was understood the accused was not to have the car. until witness had found whether the cheque would bo met. In a statement to a detective Meroer admitted 1 he took four cheque forms from his uncle’s house at Raglan, and oomdng to Auckland he wrote a cheque far £520 knowing it would not he cashed. He 6aid he wanted* to moke his friend believe he was a mam of means. On tlie charge of forgery and uttering a cheque for £4 at To Awamutu Meroer was remanded to appear there on July 15th.'
