STUD FARM AT WESTMERE
ENGLISH OOLT PURCHASED. RECORD PRICE BELIEVED PAID. Per Press Association. WANGANUI, July 4. Mr John Donald, well-known as a breeder of Freeian cattle, is setting up ,a stud farm at Westmere, and with this object in view is importing blood ■stock which should prove a decided acquisition to the Dominion. Mr Donald already has, at Westmere, . this four-year-old horse Sonbridge, by Pommem from Nevsky, bred in England and to-day received, word that negotiations -had been completed for purchase, in England, of the colt Chief Ruler by The Tetratjach from Jest, dam of Humorist and winner of the English Derby three years ago. Chief Ruler was hied by Mr S. B. Joel, a noted English sportsman, and the price is said to be a record for New Zealand, but the exact amount, is -not stated. When Chief Ruler arrives in the Dominion he will he accompanied by some brood mares to the order of Mr Donald.
