YESTERDAY'S SITTING. POLICE AND SUMMONS OASES. Police and summons cases were dealt with by Mr E. Page, S.M., at the Magistrate’s Court yesterday. A first offender for drunkenness, who failed to appear, was ordered to forfeit the amount of his bail, 10s. ALLEGED THEFT OF DIAMOND PENDANT. On the application of Chief-Detective Kemp, a young woman named Mary Green was remanded until Wednesday next on a charge of stealing a diamond pendant at Pirinoa (near Martinborough). The value of the pendant is £IOO,. and belongß to Oecdle Mona (Russell Wheeled - . The ohief-detective said that in all probability the case would 'be heard at Wellington. SUMMONS OASES. William Hayden, for using indecent language to a. constable, was fined £2, in defarult seven days’ imprisonment. John MoMinn, for a breach of a prohibition order, was fined 10s, in default seven days’ imprisonment. Harry Alexander Pirrie, who failed to affix a twopenny stamp to a receipt for £2 10s, was fined the amount of the costs only. The bench remarked that the offence was apparently the result of an oversight. George Thistoll, whom the magistrate found guilty of casting offensive matter in a public place, was fined £3. ALLEGED THEFT. At a special sitting of the court in the afternoon two cases were brought under the notice of the magistrate by the chief-detective. Ernest Edward MoFadger, who was arrested at Carterton ay Detective Thomas on a charge of stealing 30s, was remanded, on Chief-Detective Kemp’s application, to appear at Carterton next week. Bail was allowed in the sum of £2OO and one similar surety. .... The chief-detective said, in asking for tho< remand, that there was between £l3O and £l6O involved in the charge.
