BURGLARY AT KUKU
A YOUTH CAUGHT RED-HANDED. What appears to, be a cool piece of work rvas frustrated at Kuku (writes the “Time©” correspondent). . Messrs Hornig and Lewis were motoring to Levin, and noticing a native, Pirinoa, in an excited state, pulled up to ascertain the cause. He stated that- a man had entered Mr McMillan's store. The three went along, and * ij- some difficulty gainer! to ! pr.--bug iMil ‘of’ tobacco, cigarettes, etc., while on t-he counter were socks, etc., ready, apparently, to bo “lifted.” A oandlo was also found alight near inflammable material, and it appears probable that a blaze may have occurred at any time. The young man evidently gained admittance by a fan--1 light while the look of the door had been smashed, probably after gaining admission, which would prove an easy way by which, to leave th© building. The youth was taken to Levin.
