BAND CONTESTS
NORTH ISLAND ASSOCIATION. INTRODUCTION OF C GRADE. Per Press Association. WANGANUI, June 27. At a meeting of the executive of tho North Island Brass Bands’ Association to-night there was some discussion regarding the advisability of introducing a “C” grade contest. Eventually it was deoid-ed to include such a, section in tho programme at the next contest Judges were appointed as follow: Tests, Percy Code, Ballarat; solos, E Smith, Auckland. THE GRADES. Bands wore graded as follow: "A” Grado.-—Auckland Artillery, Palmerston Municipal, Wanganui Garrison, Queen Alexandra Band, Wanganui, Wellington Tramways, Wellington Artillery, Port Nicholson Band, Wailu Federal, Ist Battalion Wellington Regiment, 3rd Battalion Auckland Regiment. “B” Grade.—Lower Hutt Municipal, Potone Central, Dannevirke Municipal, Masterton Citizens, Hastings Band, Hamilton Citizens, Auckland Temperance Guards, Wh.mgavei Municipal, Feilding Band Marton Municipal, 3rd Wellington Regiment, Napier Garrison, Whakatane Citizens, Auckland Watersiders, Hawera Citizens Masterton Municipal, Central Mission. Wellington, Onehunga Municipal, 4th Battalion Auckland Infantry, Gisborne City. “C” Grade.—Te Awa.mutu Munici pal, Papatoetoo Municipal, Papakura Town, Otahuhu Municipal, I’ukckoho Municipal, Dargavillc 'town, Waipawa Municipal, Waipnlnirau, Tauranga, Stratford, Pate a, Ponsonby Boys, Miramar Rras3, Birkenhead. It was decided that no shields or other challenge trophies, be allowed to leave tile Dominion.
