SIXTH S.A. REUNION
A PLEASANT EVENING. Tiier© was a very convivial gathering at' Dnstm’a last evening, when about 40 members of the 6th South African I Contingent met for a social reunion. L Mr AndreV Wilson, of InveroargiU, presided, and the company included ten Cuba street “bnshmen,” an appellation attached to a number of. Cuba street business men who joined np with the "oonemgent. The secretary, Mr T. Taylor, read a letter from Sergeant-Major Piquet, now in Queensland, making humorous references to various old members of the- contingent. Major F. Beamish, of Dunedin, wrote asking members of the contingent to write add keep him posted with item* of information concerning the contingent, in order to keep the magazine, known as “The Bag,” going. Mr F. Stringer proposed “Absent Comrades,” and this was received with the Maori war-cry, which was specially written for the contingent when in South Africa. Other toasts honoured were “Tho Navy and Army,” “Fallen Comrades,” i and “Boys of the Great War.” Songs, etc., were contributed by Mesas A. Thompson, J. Brigden, Girdlestone, and members of the contingent. The proceedings opened with a Maori war-cry specially rendered by Mr Frank Beeves.
