MIRAMAR CLUB OPENS. 94 MIXED FOURSOME MATCHES PLAYED. The opening play of the season took place at the Miramar Golf Club’s links on Saturday afternoon, when thirty-four mixed foursomo (18S players in all) were played. There was no opening ceremony ana no speeches, tbe club for the past two or tl ree seasons having given up tho idea of a cermony on such occasions. The members of all city and suburban clubs are invited to take part in tbe opening match of the season, and players were present from the llutt, Wellington, Wainui, Morning! on. and Karori Club-, tlhere being some 180 on tho links altogether. Tho links were in very excellent order—in fact, in better condition than they have ever been before at this time of the year. The visitors were entertained at afternoon tea by tho club. The ibost cards were handed in by Miss Conway and Captain Conway, 3 down; Mrs Martin and S. Gembrill, 3 down ;Miss Laing and Robieson (Hutt), 4 down; Miss Fowler and McDowell, 5 down; Mr and Miss Ward (Wellington), 5 down.
The tie between Conway and Gnmbrill, both of whom belong to the Miramar Club, will be played off later. NEW BUNKERS. Tho socrotary (Mr Urskine) informed a “Times"’ representative that the now bunkers scheme, which was more than half completed last year, will be finished this season
