HOCKEY
’VARSITY CLUB. The annual general meeting of the Un.ive.sity Hockey Club was held last night at Victoria College when Mr A. M. Cousins presided over a large and on thus Las tic gathering of old end inlending members. The annual report showed that the past season had proved -very successful, and enjoyable to all members. Notable features were the institution of an annual fixture with Otago University and a week-end trip to Wanganui, where the College team was narrowly defeated by the local representative team. The match against Otago University was played at Wellington, and resulted in a draw. It was hoped that -matches will he arranged during the coming season against Auckland University at Wellington, and then against the two southern Universities at Christchurch and Dunedin respectively. The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £1 15s for the season. The election of officers ensued, and resulted as follows: —Patron, Mr C. Hein ; president. Professor Ada bison; vice-presidents, Messrs S. Eichelbaum, O. Watson, E. K. Lomas, H. C. Whitehead, O. G. Kirk, T. Seddon, G. Seddon, C. H. Taylor, J. F. Cousins, S. J. Oastle, and R. St. J. Beere: hon. secretary, Mr G. H. Hain; lion, treasurer, Mr H. A. Kennard • club captain, Mr N. A. Foden; delegates to Wellington Hockey Association. Messrs A. M. Clousins and C. H. Hain; management committee, Messrs G. 1 Martin, H. fl. Atkir.son, and .1. Laurie; hon. auditor, Mr H. McCormack. -It ia expected that four teams will be entered from the club this season.
HUIA CLUB ANNUAL MEETING. The annual general meeting of the Huia Hockey Club was held in the Y.M.C.A. rooms at 7.30 p.m. on the lßfch insb. The meeting was well attended being representative of both sexes. The minutes of the previous, meeting were read and confirmed, and a number of new members were thou elected. Some discussion, on the annual report and balance-sheet followed both being finally adopted. The club decided to hold an opening dance on the 9th proximo, and 1 a management committee was appointed to deal with tli© matter. One of last year’s mem bers was posted to the association for failure to pay his subscription. No further business remaining to be transacted, the chairman (Mr McAlister) declared the meeting closed. The following is an extract from the annual report:—“lt is interesting to note that during the past season mem ■bera of the Huia Club filled all the secretarial positions on tile Hockey Associations *in the persona of Messrs McAlister and Tarr, secretary and as instant-secretary respectively, and Miss H. Kitto, secretary to the Ladies’ As sociaition; also that Mr Butcher was for four consecutive years hon. secretary to the Wellington Hockey Association —four of the most trying years in the history of the association.”'
