MINISTER’S SALARY, £SOOO. MAN GETS 16s A WEEK. Reuter’s Telearam. LONDON, March 20. A vote was carried increasing Mr J. R. Clynes’s salary from £2OOO to £SOOO, after a warm protest from a Clydesider Labour member, Mr G. Buchanan, that the proposal was a hollow mockery when men were trying to live on 16s a week. Mr dynes is Lord Privy Seal and Deputy-Leader of the House of Commons.
