OBITUARY
DR ERNEST RAWSON. Widespread regret will be felt at th* death of Dr Ernest Rpwson, one of Wellington’s oldest and best-known member* of the medical profession, which has • ccurred at his residence, Naught on t-r----race, Kilbirnie. For a period of over forty years the late Dr Rawson baa practised in Wellington. Born in England sixty-nine years ago, the late Dr Rawson came to New Zealand as a child, and subsequently returned to the Old Country to continue tho studies which he had commenced in New Zealand. After completing his examinations he practised in New Plymouth, where he married Miss Courtney, and a year or so later be came to Wellington. where be remained to the time of his Heath, having practised in-Willis street for about forty years. During t> at period he made several visits to England. Ho was tbe medical officer for lodges, and was on© of tho for tno Government Lif© Insurance. His main pastime was golf, a game which be enioyed until his break-down in health a roar ago. A widow, two daughters (Mee* dames Ken. Duncan and J. W. Abbott, both of whom are at present in England) and a eon (Mr E. H. Rawson, dental surgeon of the Wellington Hospital! are left to mourn theiq loss. ISi E. H Rawson is at present in a private hospital, having been operated upon for appendicitis. A brother of the deceased gentleman is Mr H. P. Rawson, dentist, of Wellington, who h« at present on Hs way to England, and another brother was the late Mr Arthur Rawson. who held the position of engineer of the Westport Harbour Board. Judge Rawson. Native Trustee, who is at present visiting tbe East Coast, is a half-brother. The father of the late Dr Rawson was one of the first colonial surgeons in New Zealand*
