LUCKY INVENTOR

SYDNEY MAN GETS £230,000. PATENT OIL RECLAIMER. Mr Pontey, of Sydney (New South Waleg) has sold the British rights of the Richards patent oil redaitmer to Messrs Thomas and Bishop, Ltd., < n a royalty basis, but subject to a guarantee that the minimum will exceed £230,000. Mr T. D. (Richards was formerly an employee of the New South Wales railways, but has recently travelled to America m connection with hie invention. He is not in very good health at present and is residing at Marrickville (Sydney). His process of reclaiming used oil is as simple as it is ingenious and ef fectiye. It depends on three factors—washing in cold water, gravity and capillary attraction. The, Oil Reclaiming Company claims that this is the first time capillary attraction nas been utilised in an invention, though it has been known to science for centuries. There are two sized machines on the market at present, costing £35 and £SO capable of reclaiming three gallons and six gallons of oiF respectively in twenty-four hours Used oil, according to the company's figures, costs only 2d a gallon to clean and independent exports in the United States and Great Britain have testified that oil cleaned by this Australian process is ns good and even purer than new oil. An owner of two motor-cars would save the cost of the oil reclaimer in six months. It needs no attention while working, ba* no loose parts and is warranted not to wear out.
