TUBERCULOSIS
“N.Z. SHOULD BE FREED.’* NEGOTIATIONS IN LONDON. (Sydney “Sriii” Cable.) LONDON, March 18. M. Spahlinger, accompanied by Sir James Allen, interviewed Sir George Newman, chief medioal officer of the Ministry of Health, and discussed suggestions whereby they might help M. Spahlinger financially to ensure a continued production of the serum. M. Spahlinger has not yet accepted, but Sir James Allen is hopeful of a satisfactory arrangement. “When I was Defence Minister,” sair Sir James, “I saw so much tuberculosis that I decided to help along any possible cure. lam anxious that New Zealand should he freed from tuberculosis. If we could also tell the world that our cattle were free from tuberculosis, the effect upon the dairy industry would be tremendous.”
