PAGEANT FINISHES TO-DAY
TWO BIG PROGRAMMER. To-day brings the finish of the hisP a 3 ear, t and military tournament winch many thousands or people have enjoyed during the past week. The generaJ opinion of the whole community is that the various splendid spectacles and military events have exceeded expectation, though the promise of marvellous entertainment had' naturally raised a hope of thrills. This afternoon’s programme will begin at 2.30 with the pageant of a thousand years, “The Army and Navy through the Ages,” followed by the pieturesqua guard-mounting of 1790, and a demonstration hy the 14th century cannoniers with ancient culverins. After some interesting competitions of Territorials and Cadets will come the final jousting of the four Elizabethan knights in armour. To-night Newtown Park will again he a flashing fairyland of ten thousand lights in beautiful colours. There will he a full pageant programme, with the addition of the electric club swinging and the night attack. The people’s interest in tliis reproduction of an episode of “Somewhere in France” will bo increased hy bursts of shrapnel in the air fn addition to the other shellfiring.
