EVERYBODY’S THEATRE
“LITTLE JOHNNY JONES.” The special attraction at Everybody’s Theatre in Manners street is “Who is Little Johnny Jones.’”’ the leading role in which is played by Johnny Hines, the fascinating little | jockey, who has made himself such a : firm film favourite. This picture was ! screened to a Wellington audience lor I the first time last evening, and was | voted one of the host of ite kind yet 1 presonted hy Everybody’s Theatre. It is a bright and laiuriiahle comedy from beginning to end. It commences with a horse race in which the jockey shoots Yankee Doodle past the winning post, thus winning too raoe by a neck. A conspiracy between a gambler and a gangster to frame up a code and a fake telegram, and hy this means compromise to the jockey’s good reputation, is frustrated. There is in addition an abduction of the heroine bji “toughs” because she has overheard the plot of the so the comedy is not lacking in sensationalism by any means. Johnny eventually ateers his horse to victory, though almost blinded hy acid thrown in his face hy a rival horseman. The supports are also in keeping with the reputation of Everybody’s. Harry Avery and his jazz band presented for the first time, "So This is Venice,” a jazz impression of the famous “Carnival of Venice,” as well as an enjoyable programme of other numbers.
